two posts in one day but... its funny how something can be on your mind and then the answer turns up,just yesterday i was wishing i could look at the Australian mag Frankie, and then i found today on Holly's blog (thankyou) that they are offering it as a download. I don't have a favourite type of butterfly, but i have always liked the delicacy of these tiny Holly blue ones. I heard that its Save our Butterflies week in Britian up until the 2nd August. Although there are many butterflies about this year, many of these arent resident to the Uk, they are the varieties that migrate often from far flung places such as Africa. Infact there could be as many as a billion Painted lady butterflies scattered about the county here in August!
The picture for native British butterflies remains mixed. Numbers appear to be up on the previous two summers, which were extremely wet and not good conditions for them. This summer has been better, in spite of the recent showers. This is particulary good news for the endangered Heath Fritillary,(seen below) which appears to have rallied and is having a good year.Butterflies seem to be nothing but resilient in spirit. They may look delicate but think of the strength it takes to fly,and as far as they do too!
I recently found out about a charity aimed at helping them: Butterfly Conservation with 14,000 members, one of their main goals, involves seeking ways to save habitat that support the butterflies life cycle here in the Uk. You can add species sitings to the website, and they have a great index of all the different types with photos, which is where the ones featured in this post came from including the Swallowtail below. with butterfly wishes today, kat x

These pillow cases are avaliable at Cox&Cox for £32 for the pair. they certainly make a bold statement, i like the way they mix in well with the vintage cover though and the wallpaper is pretty gorgeous too. kat
This beautiful yellow rose by Louisa Rose Photography is one my Grandma would surley have loved. She had a special place for them in her heart being that they were part of her wedding bouquet. This photo is avaliable on etsy too as a print. Louise has just had a baby boy named Rufus, we are wishing you all the very best honey! xx
I thought i'd post up my sale buys as i was really pleased to get this dress so reduced from Urban outfitters online. Its a See by chloe so i could never have bought it new, but i just loved the design on the fabric so much. I was so pleased when i happened to see it at alot less than half price!
i also got a Harebell blue cotton knit cardi/wrap from Toast which again was less than half price. Its heavy weight knit so works like a jacket. Even if i don't get to wear them much this summer i know i'll love them for many more to come....oh and had to add that i got these summer pj trousers from the nightwear website Hush, check out their sale ther's some great buys.I hope you have spotted some of your own bargains lately too. x
