Pictures, pretty colours and my new knitting

Jan_08_013 Here's a close up of my mood board that i did recently. its a magnetic one so i can change it all round again when i have some different pictures to add. Its similar to what i compile in my discovery journals. From pictures in magazines mainly, but also any writing i come across and want to keep to read again.

Its my birthday in a few weeks time and my brother's is the day after on the 24th so i have been trying to find some interesting things to give him. It was always handy having our birthday's together as we could have joint parties when we were little. Later it was better to have one each, as he had a 5 aside football one, and i prefered the swimming pool. I've found a frame on urban outfitters which has squares to insert various photos on, which then can be moved about, like one of those puzzle games. I also got a bag from Ted Baker in the asos.com sale. Its a flight bag in khaki canvas and i thought it might be handy for his travels on holiday. If anyone has any other tips or suggestions about anything i'd be happy to hear..Jan_08_027 .

I am so delighted to share this next photo with you,as i have started to knit! Its going to be a cushion cover.I used to knit when i was young but havent done any for a long long time. Here i am using 20mm needles and Rowan big wool tuft in soft pink. I found the wool on ebay for just £1.50 a ball. The inspiration is from a pattern in the book Pretty Knits by Susan Cropper of Loop(on my list)

i will post a picture when its complete!i am finding it soothing to do and i know it'll give me a good sense of achievement when its made up. The big needles and wool are strange at first but they do mean you get much quicker results.December_07_297 .Before i finish today here's a picture from this month's Living Etc magazine that caught my eye,i just thought the colours work prettily together on the page and the bird cushion is so sweet. I think thats my favourite combination soft pink and soft turquoise,or maybe soft pink and pale grey together.

I hope you are having a lovely(i keep miss typing this as lovley in my emails lately!and in a way i think it has more of a special-ness to it when its spelt that way!)lovley January so far, love kat x

Ikea autumn/winter

July_07_030 The new ikea came through the door today. I jts thought i'd share some pieces out of it that i like. Alot of the new fabrics are geometric patterns this time and quite bright colours seems to be the scheme they've gone for in a departure from the usual whites and soft linen tones. I liked this room setting which is more the traditional ikea that we're used to. I must say i havent tired of this style at all.July_07_026 July_07_027 i wanted to share these pics, i was thinking of jane (of Posy) and her post on ikea and thought you might like to see them J, especially this throw knitted in a multidude of colours...July_07_028 looks like a huge scarf on this shot and is pretty cool. And finally on my browse through the new items i spotted this embroidered bed linen July_07_029 on a different note entirely i thought this necklace from Whistles nice, and thought i'd include it here as the colours seem to match in fairly nicely with this post!July_07_031 i'm off to put the bunnies out as its sunny, bye for now Kat x

Peachy pink rose & magazines 2 of my favourite things

June_2007_106 i took this the other day of a rose in bloom in our garden. I love close ups of roses and the way they look beautiful at every moment of their opening. The other day i was magazine shopping in Borders and a new Australian mag caught my eye, its subtitle is "inspiring homes with heart" so i thought i'd mention it and share a few images to all you girlies out there who love their magazines as much as i do,(i know youre out their i've seen the piles of magazines in photos on your own blogs and its reminded me of my own...i've sort of gone off a few of the home mags from the Uk(probably had them for two long) as i've found they are a bit repetitive and i needed some fresh inspiration. I still like Living Etc and this is similar to that but a bit freer in spiritJune_2007_115 June_2007_124 there is a saying a girl can never have too many shoes but i think that also goes for magazines!!June_2007_116 i loved this styling of Keira in US vogue and there was another image inside June_2007_121 its so much more inspiring to see a spread like this, especially one in natural surroundings, like on a beach or in a pretty meadow, instead of shots of a celebrity walking her dog or coming out of a shop.here's a spread from this magazine with a great shot of a model(in such a cool maxi dress) with a horse, this ones for you Jen ( :  June_2007_119 love and starshine Kat xxxx
