2020
There are tough times
And there are intense ones
There is strain, and there is loss
There is grief and there is hopelessness
But in amongst it all bravery
courage, determination.
There is despairing and disease
Suffering and disruption
Limitation, restriction, and fear
But in amongst it all is care
is interconnection, appreciation
Selflessness, service & love
There is a call for freedom, health,
normality and new beginnings
There is an honouring, a grieving
An isolation while also a belonging
2020
You were the darkness in which many had to find their own way to cast some light
You were the force that initiated change,
within single hearts and the global one
Like a world war you brought brokenness
to many
But also sowed the seeds for change.
Some things taken away can’t ever be replaced, some things taken down can never be rebuilt, but some things can re-emerge, transform and bloom again.
Differently,
perhaps better, in time,
than they used to be
And above all with more of our appreciation than we held them in before
We opened our eyes because of you 2020
We saw what truly matters
Because it was disrupted, lost or threatened
We looked again at what we had forgotten
mattered most
We saw with more clarity
We felt with more surety
Who we really are
What we really need
What we really love
