Cornish spring flowers

So much snow, so little flowers around. My heart is missing you sweet blooms.
I am most enjoying the photos that Cornwall based florist The Blue carrot shares daily on her facebook. Arent they stunning, i love their rustic style and wild free arrangements. Nothing forced or contrived, just letting the natural beauty shine, and putting just the right flowers together, to compliment and never overwhelm the eye.









Much to enjoy and browse at The Blue carrot website too.I wish i lived in their area to enjoy them for real.

Pressed flowers from summer

I made these little paper envelopes and filled them with pressed flowers from my garden.

I sent some of them to Elle for her 4th birthday, as she likes to add flowers to her "pressed Book"

These are blue hydrangea petals..there's also pansies, and yellow rose petals.

Whisper and the garden

 

Hello lovelies, the Uk has had some sunnier days at last, not quite so many up here in the North eas, but still a chance to have the odd hour sitting in the garden. There are even a few more flowers in bloom, though nothing like usual, its still absolutely wonderful to have their colour and company.

i was beginning to wonder if we would see any before the turn to winter, so its a relief to have the budlia bush in flower and be getting some roses and sweetpeas. the butterflies havent really made it up to us this year, at least not so far. there is still a bit of time for that, though usually they would be all over the budlia by now.

Whisper has fun  whatever the weather, she even stays out in the rain! and she eats, lots! grass ALL the time, and seems to especially like the sweetpeas, the ones dad has in tubs at the top of the garden.(see below!)

hi sweeties,

i want to say a lovely thanks to everyone who has given me support over the last posts on Blogging with honesty. It's been such a blessing to hear from you, and i have replied to you in the comments section should you want to go back and take a peek but don't worry if you don't have time ok.

I havent been online as much as the weather has changed for us here in England and its lovely and sunny. I have been feeling some better, and able to be in the garden in the afternoons which is magic. Hope to be in touch again before too long, as have a few handmade theme posts i want to share

Pretty blossom & paper boats

I have wanted a pretty printed vest top for ages, but couldnt seem to find one in just the right colours - till now. I like how versatile jersey vests like this are, because i wear them over long sleeve T's when its cold, and then on their own or layer with another vest when its summer.
This one is from Jack Wills, a new company to me, that my friend Helen from the wonderful Icklebabe, introduced me to. (thanks sweets!)
The brand is aimed at those in their University days, i never went to University well unless you count the University of life, which for me at least has had a much more intense curiculum! with sadly no long spring breaks.... still that aside, the clothes are just my thing, pretty casual wear, in fabrics that are very nice quality, cut well and will last and last. Plus the prints they do are either Liberty or liberty-esque and involve plenty of tiny flowers, so as you can guess, I heart them all the more!

Blossom on my knee, i had my liberty fabric shorts on for a few days in March. I hope that was not the last that we see of the summer sunshine, i really need some this year.

Mam was showing me how to make paperboats, we used a letter to hand, it happens too be one from Mary's meals, a charity i support - their vison is that every child receives one meal a day in their place of education.

Bluebell photo collage - using the iphone

This is a type of bluebell we have growing in the little front garden. I took this with my i-phone 4s, the camera is super on it. I thought you might like to know what i then did with iphone apps to achieve the end collaged photo.

First i put it through Magic Hour (still my favourite photo app)
To crop it square and lighten it using a filter

Then i uploaded that to the app Blender
And used another photo i have, of a sample piece of Designers Guild wallpaper, with little blue flowers upon it.
I blended these together.

 

Then i uploaded that image to Lens Light
I played about quite a lot adding flares, ligh leaks, sparkles and a concrete effect in a subtle wash

 

 

I then used the app Phonto to add the words in white, in a slightly faded effect

 

And lastly i uploaded the image to Hanko, and used a doilly stamp in white to each corner.

and there you have it, a collaged photo of bluebells in my garden (smile)

I really like using my phone for this as its a way to be super creative and yet be lying resting too.

Decorating the blossom tree

Hello lovelies,

i wanted to wish you a happy easter and share our little blossom tree, which through the week i was able to decorate. It really meant a lot to me to be able to do this.
It was a beautiful sunny day, and the eggs looked pretty blowing in the breeze. I took this little video to capture it...

You may notice a couple of changes at Secrets, i felt it needed a bit of a freshen up for Spring, i have taken off some of the side links and placed them in pages instead, you can find those on the top left hand side bar, they include
Handmade sellers and Blog Links which i made some new collages up for.

And i now have some links across the top too. Hoping it creates a more spacious feel by using those to link to things of interest, rather than everything on the main page.
